Hey guys! I'm new here and just got my first hedgehog yesterday! :) I'd tell you guys more but I have to make this quick as I'm in the middle of some house cleaning.

How hot is too hot? I know they like to be warm but is there a certain temperature your house shouldn't go above? Right now it's really warm out and it's about 25°C inside and about 29°C outside. I made sure he has lots of water and I just topped it off for him (some, nice cool water from our machine) but I was wandering if there's anything else I could/need to do for him. A water mister (you know the spray bottle that sprays out a fine mist for plants) or maybe a fan? I know he's probably ok but I want to make sure he's completely comfy and happy. Thanks for any answers you guys can give! :hearts:

I wouldnt let him/her get over 90 degrees farenheit they are comfy between 75 and 85 degrees farenheit usually, but you dont want to raise the temp or lower the temp real quick cause they could try hibernate if cooled too quickly

I try not to let my hedgies room get over 80F. Pick up a digital thermometer to put by her cage so you can gauge the temp. of her overall environment. I found mine at Wal-Mart for under $10. I have a box fan in my room to help keep things circulated, but I don't count on it for bringing the temps. down

Ok thanks! I was getting worried because it was pretty hot out and me and mom were super uncomfortable. Summer here is usually this hot (hotter once it gets going into late July/August) so he should be happy.
Haha yay for Wal-Mart! I'll probably be going out there tomorrow night so I'll look at the thermometers. For now it's only about 79°F (haha only...) and probably cooler in my room by a couple of degrees becuase I have 2 outside walls and the sun is on the other side now. I think we might have one of those box fans somewhere (Dad has a collection of things) I think I need it more than my hedgehog though. :p

How much do they like water? I know it depends on the hedgehog but what do yours think of it? I've read a couple of stories about how if you put them in water (just a bit) they like to splash around and run in it. It does kind of sound like fun so maybe mine might like to.

when it's very hot, I place a frozen water bottle on Litchi's cage, she can sugle up on it or moove away. I also have a fan but not directed toward her cage. I woudn't spay your hedgie with water, they might get cold after if they aren't dry properly. Some hedgehogs might like water but my girl rund and try to escape from her bath!

That sounds like a good idea I think he'd like that. :) Mom managed to find the fan in the basement for me (mom can always find something in a second even if I've looked forever and can't find it anywhere  ) and we've got it in the living room on the floor and it's a little mini fan so it's not too cold and it's not too close to him. He seems to be happier now.

Ya, I thought it might be bad if he got cold but I was going to hold him after and make sure he was dried off completely before I put him back. It turns out that he doesn't like it much right now. I put a tiny bit in the sink for him to look at and he went straight to the dry side and wanted out. :p
