Freaking out my baby won't eat

okay i bought my hedgie a day ago and it doesn't seem like he's eating...and also he seems to be sleeping a lot...he's so little and he acts fine when i take him out he's very active but as soon as he gets back in his cage he sleeps...I'm scared that he's sick, but i also know that he's in a new environment and away from what he knows but I want him to be healthy...also the food that he was eating was CRAP with a capitol C...so i thought maybe that had something to do with why he's so lethargic.

Congratulations on your new baby. Remember we need to see pictures. :)

Babies sleep alot. Basically they do 3 things, eat, poop, sleep. :laugh: Try counting his kibble and you will know exactly how much he is eating. It is quite normal for a new baby to not eat very much the first day or two in a new home.

If he is really tiny the kibble may be too hard for him. Try breaking it into smaller pieces and also give him a dish of kibble that has been dampened.

Are you mixing the crappy food with the good food? You may have to do a 20/80 mix and then lower it so your baby adjusts to the new food.

Also is this daytime or nighttime? Prickles doesn't touch her food or water till at least 8pm.

My hog did that too and now she eats like a little piggy. She'd always come out at night to eat too until she got more used to us. If I gave her a piece she'd take it though, so I'd keep feeding them to her while she was in her hiding container. She's so spoiled. :laugh:
