I have 8 rescues here that could use new homes!! I just brought home 6 of them today, and I'm going to have them checked on Monday, but I just wanted to hop on and see if anyone's interested. I'll post pictures tomorrow, I want to let them settle in for the night.
I have a bonded brother pair, Freckles and Sweets. Freckles is a light beige, and I think that Sweets is a dark beige or a tan (his belly is a dirty light color, so I don't know what that means...). Freckles is called so because of the freckles on his ears, and Sweets because of his personality. Neither of them had names when they came here, so they just acquired those. Both are absolute dolls, and are probably the sweetest two that I've ever handled. They've been here since December 2005, one was about 5 months old then, and the other was 10 weeks old. They must go together!!
Next is Rocco, a mosaic male that was born in December 2004, so he'll be two years old soon. He's very particular about his cage, and will rearrange until it suits him. He is mostly white with a few silver tips, and a small grey patch on his tail.
Gonzo is a chocolate male (is that a color? wasn't sure...) that was born in February 2005, so he's just over a year old. Gonzo loves chinnie scritches, and is willing to come out of the cage and cuddle. He's a beautiful dark brown all over with dark reddish/brownish eyes. As I'm typing this, he is wrestling with his chube that I put in there for him.
Charlie is a light beige male that was born in October 2004, so he will also be two years old soon. The folks that gave him to me warned me that if I try to keep him away from something or keep him out of a particular room that he will take it as a challenge that he must tackle. He is extremely underweight right now, and will not be going anywhere until he is back up to a healthier size.
Chewy is a velvet beige female that was born in November 2004, and she has already had 3 litters of kits, and I think she is pregnant again. The previous owners said that Charlie and Chewy should never be separated, but under these circumstances I think that it would be best for both. Chewy definately needs a break from mommy-hood, so when she draws closer to delivering they will be separated.
There are also two beige babies, one light beige and one medium/dark beige. Both are males and are about 8 weeks old. They haven't been handled a whole lot, so they will need quite a bit of socializing, but they are both at good weights and will be ready to go after an intitial health check.
All of them have beautiful and healthy weights (except for Charlie). Gonzo, Chewy, and Charlie have all had a fungus that was cleared up by adding Desonex to their dust baths. Along with the chins came 2 flying saucer wheels, and 3 cages that are about 4 feet long, and probably 3 feet deep and 3 feet high. They are all hand-constructed with pull out pans and shelves that attach directly to the front and back pieces. We had to take them apart in order to get them into my truck, so they are in pieces at the moment. I was hoping that I would have room for the cages, but I don't have any spaces that big here. They will be up for adoption along with the chins.
The six that came today have been given water in bowls instead of bottles, so I have already started introducing them to bottles. They were being fed Kaytee chinchilla food, and I'm switching them over to Tradition as well. I think that's about it for right now...I'll get pictures up in the morning. Thanks for reading guys!
