Chicken Soup

Has anyone gotten a bag of Chicken Soup Lite lately and found it to be different? I buy it 2 large bags at a time and both of the newest bags the kibble is considerably smaller in size and also much lighter in colour. I don't think it even smells the same.

I haven't bought a bag in a while. It lasts pretty long with only one baby. I hope they didn't change the formula since a lot of hedgies like it. One time when I was feeding 8 In 1 to Pringle, they changed the shape and I called the company. I read them the bar code and the stamped expiration date on the box, they looked up the info and found out that there was ferret food packaged in that set of boxes by mistake. Maybe something like that happened.

Yes, I noticed the kibble is smaller. I am happy about this, it is easier for my hedgies with teeth problems to eat. I don't have to crush the kibble. I haven't noticed a different smell. What would you say the difference in smell is, Nancy?

I noticed on their website that the picture of the bag shows a red triangle that says New .... but I can't read what else it says. My bag doesn't have that red triangle so I suspect they have changed it and are just using old bags.

I really don't know what the difference in the smell is. It doesn't seem to smell as strong for one thing.

I wish if they had changed the formula they would have put it in the bags that say it is new. I would have opened a new bag before I was totally out of the other so I could switch it gradually. I just hope the fussies like the new stuff or I'm in trouble. :laugh:

I thought I was just seeing things. My crew still eats it but it is much lighter in color. I'll have to take a good smell because my bag smells the same

I just got an email from Chicken Soup and they said they have not changed their kibble and don't understand why it would be lighter in colour. I've sent them a photo of the difference.

The photo does not adequately show the size difference.

The bag I got about a week ago looks like the first one you posted and what the breeder gave me. Maybe it was packaged incorrectly, like that ferret food in the hedgie box? Or maybe it's gone bad? I don't know...

Hmm...just took a whiff of my latest bag and it smells the same to me, but it is at least a couple shades lighter than what it normally is. My crew was happily crunching away this evening :)

My CSFTCLS stuill looks like the old stuff, i'll have to see when I pick up my next bag. Felix, would probably LOVE the littler pieces.
